dana hamm. Where
are you based? Which is the place you call home when you are not busy traveling
around the world for your work? I have homes in Raleigh, North Carolina
and Columbus, Ohio, but I travel most of time, so it's great to come home
to fairly low-key towns. I enjoy the peace and quiet, especially after being
in so many big and busy cities such as: LA, NYC, Las Vegas, Miami, and Atlanta.
Is it possible to have best friends in such
a competitive business like yours? Yeah, I think it's possible,
but probably difficult. Lots of ups and downs.
Let's
look at your successful career up to this moment. Is there anything missing,
anything you would like to achieve in order to consider it complete from
your point of view? Well, I'd love to get a feature film role,
but I suppose that's what every model wants at some point.
Many beginning models have a very clear idea
of what they are ready to do, and what their limits are, especially in
the world of glamour modeling. Sometimes these limits change and are pushed
forward during a modeling career.
This does not seem to be your case. How difficult,
if it was, was it to keep your modeling career within the limits you set
at the beginning? How much pressure does a model typically receive from
publishers, photographers, etc
? I work in many areas of modeling
including: fitness, glamour, fashion, and beauty. I've never experienced
any problems, because I've always made my goals and standards clear. I
don't pose topless or nude, and that's not going to change. Of course,
publishers and photographers have asked, but they always treat me with
respect and understand my choices.
Your personal advice, the advice of a successful model,
to a beginning model. Three things she should always keep in mind when
trying to pursue a (hopefully successful) modeling career.
1. Stay in control of your images at all times
2. Treat modeling as a business, not as a way to get dates or boast your
ego.
3. Crawl before you walk
take your time and wade into modeling so
you don't make the classic mistakes.
What do you do in order to keep your body in
such a perfect shape? Are you ready to share, just a little, your beauty
secrets? Thanks! I workout with weights 3 times a week and stay
away from simple carbs as much as possible. I also speed walk (2 miles)
twice a week.
Many
photographers, and many models, feel that the web has allowed them to
bypass the traditional 'chain' (publishers, editors, distribution
)
and have a direct contact with their public and fan base. How important
has the web been in your career? It has been very important and
liberating, but in order to be seen in bigger and better arenas you definitely
need magazines, publishers, and agents. You have to work on your career
from every angle possible.
Close your eyes, make a wish for 2007. What
would you like to happen to yourself this year? Maybe that film
role!!!!!
