Maya Murofushi

Our new cover model is Maya Murofushi, model, actress and spokeswoman. Maya is Japanese, but her cosmopolitan lifestyle keeps her constantly busy travelling around the world. From Europe, where she has been spending quite a lot of her time in the last few years, to the USA where she is planning to move very soon, to Asia, of course. Maya is a very talkative and friendly model, very different from the Maya we had in mind when we first saw her pictures.

We had the chance to shoot Maya on a very dark and cloudy October day in Tokyo (one of the few cloudy days in October, and it was waiting for us…), and to get to know Maya Murofushi better, her ideas, her goals in life. How long have you been modeling and how did you start?
Professionally I've been working as a model for about 2years and half.
My first job was in Siena, Italy where I used to live. I was scouted by photographer on the street for an advertising campaign. Until then I always wanted to become a singer, but that shooting changed my life. I realized that how photography has this amazing aspect of artistic collaboration, to create a masterpiece with all members by magic of light.

Your personal and professional ambitions are...
I'm shifting my career torwards acting more now. My ambition? Of course, an Oscar winning. But since I've been doing a lot of seminar for environment/animal issues, I would like to expand my contribution more as well.

Your best quality is...
Curiosity.

And a bad aspect of your personality?
I'm bad at organizing my schedule...

Your hobbies?
Studying. I read a lot. I love Philosophy, Astrophysics, Quantum theory etc... Also I love training. I learn many dances like Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Japanese traditional... Seriously, if I'm not doing this job, I definitely would become a dancer. Also I learn Japanese sword fighting! Oh and I love to sing, play the piano of course... both of my parents are classical musicians.

Your favorite music?
Classical music is my core. I love all kind of music though, a good thing is a good thing. But I must confess that I really love Jamiroquai.

You are a Vegan. Can you tell us something more about this choice? Why, and how did it change your life, if it did?
Firstly I started to be Vegetarian for no reason. Just an inspiration. But after some time, I wondered why I'm doing that. So I started to do reserch and I knew about the environmental impact caused from livestock industry, how they treat animals and how major malicious cycle is connected on this planet." . Since then I was more resoluted what I do, and started to do seminars in front of people. And yes, it changed completely my life. I became ten thousand times more active, positive and no-sickness. I never go to hospital, never taken any medicine since then. So I never want to go back to the old days. I became Vegan about 2 years ago, and I find mysef just, perfect.

The craziest thing you have ever done in your life
When I was in Italy, I was really drunk with my housemate, and we started to empty the entire bottle of Jagermeister at 9 in the morning (after a long night of drinking). After that, we started to... oh no, I can't tell you more here...

And the most embarassing moment of your life?
I really love Chopin's piano concerto. And one day in my living room I was acting like conductor while I was listening to it.(Oh, my father is a conductor by the way) And when the music ended, I realized that girl from next house has been watching me all the time there. Oh...

What attracts you in a man?
Integrity, dignity as human-being, and intellectuality.

What do you like the most in your body?
I guess my legs;-)

Flat shoes or high heels?
Actually both. I always carry alternative in my bag.
Because I have to attend to a lot of party or events, also I want to be used to high heels always, but yet I don't want to be too tired...
