The restaurant, the bar above the restaurant, the bathroom (!), the elevator, and probably more are all designed by Philippe Starck, but nonetheless I was a little disappointed by overall look and feel of the restaurant. I was expecting something different. My fault, probably, I always expect so much. Felix was crowded, packed, full. When we arrived some people were politely being sent away because they did not have a reservation. A lot of expats, English and Dutch expats mostly, drinking and chatting in the bar above (quite small, many people standing next to each other, if privacy is something you value) and in the restaurant. Many couples, many tourists. Mostly people with an attitude, to be honest not my type of people. Ok, now to some more positive aspects. The food. I was amazed by the quality of the cuisine, really high level. Top quality ingredients, great preparation, nice presentation, and original too.
The bathroom. The same friends also suggested "Don't forget to go to the toilet " so of course, with the help of some red wine, some mineral water and some concentration I finally had to go... It is true, you actually 'perform the act' in front of a big window as I had been told, but also in this case I was expecting something different, more unforgettable...
Felix is a top restaurant, and is one of those restaurants you should see and try if you happen to be in Hong Kong. But do not believe all your friends told you. What I liked: The quality of the food, the service, the view on the skyline of Hong Kong, probably the most impressive in the whole world. What I did not like: The 'crowd'. And the elevator.
