Bijan Bar and Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur It was one of those nights.
In Kuala Lumpur for the first time, eager to see as much as possible,
but careful not to fall into the usual tourist routes. Not easy, but not
impossible either. Dinner time, and no place to go. We walked and looked
around in the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Center) but all we found was bars
and restaurants, Italian, Thai, whatever
targeting backpackers and
some expats in search for some fun. Not exactly our type of evening.
Suddenly, just
when we were starting to feel lost, a great idea. Back to our hotel, the
Mandarin Oriental (I still cannot forget the magnificent view of the Petronas
Towers right outside of our room window) and straight to the concierge
for some advice. Taxi, not more than ten minutes, and we finally arrive
at our destination. Bijan Restaurant on Jalan Ceylon.
What we found
was exactly what we were looking for. Traditional Malay Cuisine served
in a relaxed sphere, high quality service and never the feeling of being
pushed to order what we do not want by the waiters. Wood everywhere, good
distance between the tables, very soft candle lights. A very nice open
terrace, where we found a table for two and enjoyed our first Malay dinner.
A bottle of red wine, and the wide selection of dishes from the menu
of Bijan Restaurant were exactly what we needed that night, after a long
hot day walking around the beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur. We will be
back, and our advice to our readers is: if you happen to visit Kuala Lumpur,
keep one night free for a dinner at Bijan Restaurant.
