Hair trends 2014 - Interview with Teiji Utsumi
We will talk about the new hair trends for 2014 in this interview with Teiji Utsumi, Hair Stylist. Teiji is originally from Japan, at the age of 16 he began hairdressing in a Japanese local salon where he trained traditional old school style. This has expanded his eye and hair styling techniques. He has now been and worked all over the world, and you can find his name and work on some of the most famous international fashion magazines, such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, i-D, Dazed and confused, Another, wonderland, Hero, Another man, and many more.
Which hair trends from last season will still be going strong also during the Spring Summer 2014 season?
Some of last season's hair trends, such as the wet look, will still be going strong also during the Spring Summer 2014 season. But in my opinion we will have to look more at sleek and quite minimalist hair styles, shiny but not greasy hair, super straight hairstyles, mixed textures.
Which are the most important new hair trends you see coming for the Spring Summer 2014 season? Short hair lengths, medium hair lengths, long hair?
I think we will see more and more bob length, long between chin and shoulders, not the classic way. We will see a more 60's and 70's style, dry but clean, modern twisted, or fishtail braid hairstyling (70's). I have already seen a lot.
What is your personal favorite hairstyle, and why?
My favorite style is is bob length and clean hair, I feel this gives a very fresh and modern look, and it fits to trendy fashion style.
The must-have hair care/beauty product for the Spring Summer 2014 season, the product every girl and every woman should absolutely have in her beauty case...
My favorite hair product is Bed head from TIGI, it creates a chic look, and creates a lot of volume, but with a really light texture. You can do whatever look you want to do. Curly, straight... it is a great product to have.
