Many Asian models litterally invaded the Milano Fashion Week this season. Some catwalks had three, four Asian models, Ermenegildo Zegna dedicated the entire collection and Fashion Show to China and at that show there were at least 10 Asian models, mostly from Beijing. The one who attracted most our attention, though, was the very tall and very elegant David Chiang, a new name in the world of fashion modeling, but one we will hear more and more often. We saw him backstage at Ermenegildo Zegna, and when one day later we spotted him backstage at John Varvatos we did not hesitate to interview him for Adversus.asia. Here what he told us.

Where are you from? How old are you? How long have you been modeling?
I am from Canada, I am 21 eyes years old, this is my second season, we are backstage at John Varvatos, it is a very beautiful collection, very rock, very grungy and edgy, it is cool

But where does your family originally come from?
Taiwan

Where are you currently based?
I just started one year ago, so I am still living everywhere, I have not found a place where to set my base yet. I would say Paris or London, but I just go a new agency in Paris and they really want me to be there for at least a year, so I guess I might be based there.

Have you ever thought what you will do when you will finish your modeling career?
Actually my dream is to become a designer, or work for and advertising chain, for a brand, a company, that is what I really want to do.

What about Asia? It is booming, many Asian models are coming to Europe...
Yes! This season a lot of Asian models…

Do you see a future also for your career in Asia, with your totally Asian look, and your international background?
I would totally love to, I have never been to Asia! My parents come from the south part of Taiwan, but I have never been there yet… Yes, I really wan to go to Asia and see how it is going to work, that would be really amazing

After Milano are you going to Paris?
Yes I am going to Paris, I have some fittings to go to, that is where I will be going to

Last question: how do you take care of your body?
I eat whatever I want. But I try to eat more in a healthy way, more vegetables, chicken and fish, I do not eat beef or pork, more white meat, lean meat, on the healthy side. And I jog every morning, every single day, just to make sure I have a good circulation…

How tall are you?
I am 6,2½, I guess kind of like too tall for Asia…

And you are 100% Taiwanese…
I really do not know why I am so tall, actually. It must have been the nutrition, and my mom said my grandfather was 1/6th Dutch, so that my be… it is really weird, I met so many Asian models on the street, and they all say to me "Amazing, you are so tall!!!..." and I say… "Hey! Here I am… ;)"
