How to get flawless skin and a strong make-up look

Make-up: James Molloy, Director of Artistry for Asia and Pacific at M.A.C Cosmetics, at the Etw. Vonneguet Show F/W 2012 2013 in Tokyo

Make-up with one graphic element and a skin that comes 'close to perfection'. This make-up look is easy and we will explain you how to create this look. It becomes also very 'wearable' if you apply the colors you usually would use for the eyebrows as an eyeliner instead. Let's have a closer look at this make-up look.

Grafic eyebrows. Flawless skin. The inspiration
Backstage at the FW 2012 2013 Etw. Vonneguet fashion show in Tokyo we interviewed James Molloy, Director of Artistry for Asia and Pacific at M.A.C Cosmetics, who created the make-up look for the show. We wanted to know more about the inspiration for this look, and - even more important - how to create this look ourselves.

'The inspiration for this make-up is a tribe, a futuristic tribe', says James Molloy. 'We have guys and girls in the show and I wanted them all to feel part of the same family, almost the same person. So we are taking some real beautiful colors straight from the collection that has a royal blue, a turquoise and a purple, with which we create a graphic eyebrow. So all the models have graphic eyebrows and a kind of plastic looking skin. It is quite futuristic, especially with the hair which is almost like a woven cocoon that makes the beautiful graphic eyebrows showing through.'

Bright colors and a perfect complexion
With the bright colored eyebrows James Molloy has created a very special look, which becomes definitely wearable if the focus is switched from the eyebrows to the eyes. 'You can take the colors from the brows and use them as an eyeliner instead', says James Molloy. 'For me those really rich jewel tones, blue, purples, green are really in for summer. The super hydrated skin you see here is also a trend for this season. Let's go for the idea of perfection.'

How to…

Step 1: Choose a foundation that suits your skin. To create the plastic texture, you have to layer the foundation (James Molloy used Face and Body Foundation M.A.C). Apply the foundation with your hands as shown in the photo gallery and really massage it deep into the skin. It is key to create that plastic texture. The more layers you apply the more 'plastic' it becomes. Don't use any powder so the skin really shines in all the right places.

Step 2: Use a fluid concealer to hide imperfections. Apply the product with a small brush. Don't forget your nostrils, your inner eye corners, the skin under your eyes and your eyelids.

Step 3: Highlight the nose bridge and cheeks with a highlighter (Prep + Prime Highlighter M.A.C)

Step 4: Choose a creamy eye shadow in a bright color for the eyebrows and apply with a small brush. For a more wearable look choose an eyeliner in a bright color for your eyelids.

Step 5: Apply a beige eyeliner on the inside part of your lower eyelid (M.A.C NC15/NW20).

Step 6: Apply a transparent lip balm on the lips.
