"Beauty tips for Asian women by Mariko Tagayashi,
Senior make-up artist at M.A.C Japan"
During our interview on the Asian makeup trends for winter 2010 2011
with Mariko Tagayashi (click
here to read more), Senior make-up artist at M.A.C Japan, we
also talked about beauty tips and expert advice about beauty, skin,
makeup tools. For some specific beauty tips for Asian women just read
on, this is what Mariko told us.
Let's
talk about the skin. How do we build a 'nice' and flawless skin?
By using a good moisturizing and whitening product, with SPF protection.
I recommend "Lightful Hydro- Charged Moisturizer SPF 30/PA++"
as a primer, to prepare and moisturize the skin.
After that you can apply a foundation such as Studio Sculpt SPF 15
Foundation', a creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation, which is also
moisturizing and gives a medium coverage. It is a very popular product.
Which
product is the 'must have product' for any Asian woman in your opinion?
Maybe not just one product
maybe two
(and she laughs
!
Ed.)
For sure I recommend a good sculpting foundation. I often work backstage
at the fashion shows, and I always use this Studio Sculpt Foundation
for a perfect skin. And also a good eyeliner.
Let's talk about the brushes. If our budget
does not allow us to have a full set of make-up brushes
which
ones are the '3 must have brushes' in your opinion?
First of all this brush, "Small Duo Fiber #188", for the cheeks.
It is a combination of natural and synthetic hair. The white hair is
synthetic, the black hair is natural and they work in a different way.
The natural hairs at the base of the brush keep separated the synthetic
hairs at the end. As the synthetic hairs are very thin, the result you
obtain is very soft. You can use this brush for cheeks and highlights.
And then this one, number 224. We use this for eye shadows, it is natural
hair. The third one, for blending, is number 219. You use it to blend
the edge of the eye. All M.A.C brushes are very soft, soft brushes can
help create very soft blending, this is to achieve a very natural makeup.
And
this is also very important and very much in line with the makeup trends
for the summer of 2011, when we will see some very soft maquillages.
What is the biggest mistake in makeup you
see on the streets here in Tokyo, what should girls pay attention to
when they create their makeup?
I think you should concentrate on one item of your face at the time.
Like eyes, lips, eyebrows
sometimes putting the focus on more
than one item becomes too much, and this is the most common mistake.
You should not go too far with makeup. Try not to emphasize too many
items on your face. One at the time is enough.
