Interview with Jeff Ginsburgh, Art Director TONI&GUY, Magna Plaza, Amsterdam. We talk about the latest hair trends for women, for the Fall winter 2012 2013 season.

What are the most eye-catching hair trends for winter 2012 2013 for the ladies? What is the novelty of this season?
The catwalks are awash with opulence; a true statement of intent while the world is gripped by austerity. Hair is worn big (think Sophia Loren), Curls are being replaced by natural looking waves, Braids are the new ponytail and the bob returns, harking back to its heyday of the 1920's with wispy soft edges but retaining that modish attitude of the 1960's, soft waves or finger curls, side partings and higher crowns, the original days of decadence. (Think country classics in cognac, coco channel in her heyday, Twiggy or Brigitte Bardot). The novelty this season is black is actually the new black. Now there's an idea. What kind of hair color are we going to see?
The Autumn/Winter 2012 catwalks were awash with purple tones and Kelly Osbourne triumphed the trend at the Emmy's, teaming her lilac locks with matching Zac Posen gown. Darker hair has blue or burgundy undertones.

Which women hairstyle do you cut the most at this moment?
I am taking a lot of inspiration from classic shapes and iconic styles at the moment, I am working with a lot of disconnection, offset angles, horizontal and vertical sections with 3 seasonal colours to accent and bring these shapes up to date. Piet Mondriaan and the De Stijl art movement heavily influence the technique, the feeling is modernist but glamorous, and the deconstruction makes the style very personal and wearable to the individual. Bangs or not? Layers or not?
Bangs are being worn longer, stronger and messy, rock glam or indie chic et al. Layers, most definitely, hair has more wisp and softness around the edges and layers for that all important volume.

How are we going to style our hair the next season? Steep, natural, curl? Pinned or loose?
3 words. Natural, voluptuous and opulent.
