Trends Spring Summer 2012
Interview with Sherman Wong - TONI&GUY Hong Kong Art Team
Academy Manager / Senior Educator TONI&GUY Hong Kong
"2012 Spring/Summer is a season of revival
and evolution. There are lots of silhouette, and Deco influence to fashion.
Hair should be an extension and revival of the iconic styles in different
eras"
The main trends for long, medium and short hair for the Spring Summer
2012 season will be
The hair trend coming from TONI&GUY 2012 collection "Alignment"
is being inspired through fashion, music, street art, and architecture.
The hairstyle should emphasize individuality through personalizing.
Long Hair
We encourage layering for versatile styling effort. The hair can be styled
wavy with textured, or kept bouncy through a luxurious blow-dry.
Try a center part or side part in this season! If you like fringe, cut
a full fringe!

What can you do with your long hair?
Spring/Summer is a season with lots of energy and movement! Wet-look updos
are popular; I also love a simple loose updo to encourage separation between
the hair.
Don't be afraid to use some hair accessories such as grips, hair-pins,
and wraps for your updos, it's everywhere on the runway, it's about individuality!

Medium
Hair
With the influence of the 20's revival, an update tousled mid-length bob
would look fresh and trendy

Short
Hair
A mod bob that gives a strong shape with texture inside would be perfect.
Disconnected undercut within the haircut would be ideal.
If you are adventurous, try to get a pixie haircut with very short bangs.

Which is the haircut and the hairstyle women are asking you more often
in your salon right now?
Many women come in to our salon to layers cut with their long hair; bobs
are also popular. We also have many clients that get a brow-level fringe
cut!
What is your first advice when a woman decided to totally change
her hair look, but she has no clue where to look for an idea which suits
her style?
The first question I would ask is "On a scale of 1-10, 1 being the
most conservative, and 10 being very open to change, what level are you
at?" Then I would ask her if she has seen an image or photo that
she likes, then show her a stylebook to get her inspired. Then I will
design and suggest styles according to her features and styling preferences.
As a guest, don't be afraid to tell your hairstylist your concerns. We
are here to create a look that best suit your lifestyle!
Let's talk about color. Which are the newest and most trendy colors
for next summer?
The color trend coming from TONI&GUY 2012 collection "Alignment"
is more juicy, dip-dye technique which is inspired by artists from East
London
Longer
Hair
Color should be shown within the movement of the hairstyle, but rather
diffused when your hair is not moving. Try getting colour placement that
uses the same tone of colour throughout but different depth. This helps
to enhance the dimension of your hairstyle. (Reference:

Shorter
Hair
Your hair color needs shine, and the placement should come in free-form.
We suggest you to use warmer tone (such as chocolate, ruby) (Reference:

Talking about hair trends, which trends are we going to bring with
us, from the previous season, into the next season, and which ones are
we going to definitely leave behind us, in your opinion?
2012 Spring/Summer is a season of revival and evolution. There are lots
of silhouette, and Deco influence to fashion. Hair should be an extension
and revival of the iconic styles in different eras. TONI&GUY 2012
collection is an inspiration of modern revivals. Hairstyles are revisited
through inspiration from architecture, grunge culture, and street art.
Hairstyle has organic movement within a distinct shape. We believe this
trend is going to extend into the upcoming season. Try a full fringe this
season before the trend slips away.
The biggest no-no for Spring Summer 2012, talking about haircuts,
hairstyle or color will be
Hairstyle at any length should not be overly thinned-out. A defined shape
should be maintained while texture should be shown through disconnected
lengths.
